How to remove a Computer
Virus
A computer virus can strike your system at any moment
if you are not protected. Sometimes they are harmless, but many
times they will destroy all of the personal information that you
have saved on your computer.
It is imperative that you stop using your computer
immediately and turn it off if you suspect that you have a virus.
The longer the virus is able to run on your computer, the more harm
it can do to you. They can even hurt the computers of your friends
or business associates via email. This can result in extremely embarrassing
situations or even legal recourse against you!
Here are the steps that we take to make sure that
your system stays virus free:
1. Disconnect from the Internet to repair the damage.
Many times your computer can become re-infected only a few seconds
after a virus has been removed.
2. Install antivirus software that will first remove
any existing virus' and repair any damaged files. Some virus' will
not allow you to install this software, so they must be manually
killed first.
3. Scan the entire system. Once the virus has been
killed, infected files on your system could restart it at a later
time. The only way to be safe is to do a full system scan.
4. Put a "firewall" between your computer
and the Internet. The most successful virus' infect computers by
transporting themselves over the Internet, attacking your computer
automatically while you are not even using it. A firewall will protect
your computer from the Internet.
5. Apply the latest security patches to your computer.
Many of the modern virus' use known security holes in your existing
software to infect your computer. It is imperative that you keep
your computer up to date with the latest Microsoft Windows patches.
6. Maintenance. Your computer will be configured to
automatically scan for virus', update it's virus information and
download Windows patches. This will allow you to sleep easy at night,
knowing that you will never experience this problem again.
